Fine Fabric

So we had to put or dog to sleep Saturday. I have been crying for the last 4 days to the point were I couldn't see. I decided to get out of the house and take my mind off Trixie. In one of my funky post back when I was trying to get back in the groove, Faye Lewis from Faye's sewing adventure blog mentioned Fine Fabric here in Atlanta. So I decided to get in the car and take a drive. OMG. I cannot believe I have been in Atlanta for over 30 years and

have passed this place a million times and never went in there. I still had my mind on Trixie but at least I wasn't crying.  I walked out there only  3 pieces of fabric. All  I can say is the only reason I will shop Joann's  or Hancock again is for patterns.Thanks Faye

NYC Again

I went back to NYC we took the grand kids for the 4th. Still no opportunity to go fabric shopping. It was so hot. And I was suffering from some serious jet lag. I did however I did get a chance to go to  Pacific Trimming. OMG they have everything thing you can image in this store. I purchased zippers, frog closures, trim, and some really unique buttons (like I need more buttons).

 I have noticed a lot of lace and eyelet dresses and tops. Although I have a few eyelet dresses I am dyeing to get back home to make a lace top. I am going fabric shopping next weekend in downtown LA I am hopeful that I will find some.

Never ending hut for fabric

Ok we know that it’s time for our fall sewing. I had a favorite fabric store that went out of business about 4 months ago. I was searching for new fabric stores in my area. I do this every 6 months or so just to see if there are any stores open.  I came across SOUL fabric shop @ 279 Candler Rd SE Atlanta, GA 30317 Formally discount fabric.  I thought this address looks familiar. I called them to find out their location and to my surprise my store reopened. Now this place is nothing to look at from the outside and the area of town is questionable. But if you know your fabric you can get some really, really good deals.

Like this faux leather snake fabric I got for 10.00 it was 7.00 per yard but he gave it to me the whole piece for 10.00 because it was cut funky. I have about 2 yards and its 60 inches wide. I haven’t decided what I am making yet. If you’re ever in Atlanta make it a point to visit this store. Make your way to this store; they have everything from faux leather, silk, lace, wool jersey
