Diamond in the rough

OK so I went back to find the store I told you about in the last post, to avail. So I was my way to Mood again and decided to peek in this store called G&R Fabric 239 W 39th St. I asked the guy did he have ponte, boy did he have ponte. It was 16.00 a yard he let me have it for 12.00 per yard. I purchased 2 pieces. I paid more for my zipper than the fabric. I purchased a 36 in zipper to put on the dress that was 16.00. I just wanted you to see this store. He had leather skins gorgeous for 6.00 sq foot. OK the store is noting to look at but I did get a receipt this time so I have an address. And I will be going back.

Looking for Mr. Ponte Roma

I got off today in search of yellow Ponte roma.  I will only have time to make a 2 hr max garment. I wanted to make a yellow simple knit dress to match my yellow jacket . I went to at least 5 fabric stores including Mood. I found all sorts of yellow, but not yellow ponte. Anyway needless to say I did not walk away empty handed. I found this gorgeous black and beige fabric for 6.00 a yard the guy told me it used to be used by GAP (whatever). Anyway no tax no receipt so, I am sure I will never be able to find the store again.

After being disappointed that I could not find my fabric, I stopped by Pacific Trim Purchased some zipper pulls for 1.00 each and a few ends belt ends. I am telling you they had better get me out of this place.

Missing In Action (again)

Hey there. I just wanted to let you know that for a little while I won’t be sewing as much. I am on the road again. Fortunately for me, I am in NYC. Last week was the 1st week here. I could not let the week go by without going to Mood. I was not going to buy anything. I just wanted to check it out  from top to bottom, and marvel at all the fabric. Then I saw this roll of Oscar de la Renta fabric. I was the very last 2 yards on the roll so I had to buy it. It was a beautiful fuchsia heavy cotton jacquard. I plan on making a jacket one day:)

Yep its the red coat. Had to tone my hair down for work.

I told myself that, every day when I got off work, I would check out at least one fabric store. Needless to say Mood has been the only store that I have had time to visit, and its been almost 2 weeks. I figure, while I am at home for a few hours, I can whip up a skirt or dress.  After all I am still doing the RTW busters. I pass by MJ Trim every day which is a good thing but I also pass H&M, Macys, Jcrew, Lord and Taylor, Joe Fresh and I can go on HELP ME!!!! 

I will buy Trim instead of cloths
