CHANEL OBSESSION

OK we all know how much I love Chanel or anything that looks, smell or feel like Chanel. I was browsing a magazine the other day and had to get my magnifying glass to look at the details of the jacket. I could not believe it had holes in it. After further investigation, I found it to be true that holes were cut in the jackets.
It was as though Lagerfeld had taken scissors to Chanel—or maybe unleashed a cloud of ninja moths. The first outfits were riddled with holes that recalled Rei Kawakubo's "new lace," so radical in the early eighties. After the show, the designer said new fabrics were one of his touchstones for the collection, but he distressed them with selvedge, ragged edges, and a lattice of perforations. Per Tim Blanks

NEW CHANEL INSPIRED JACKET

On the dress form

With my Olivia & Denise Label
I never found the fur to make that jacket but I manage to cut out and make a Chanel inspired jacket using McCall's 6041. I get compliments every time I ware it. It looks really good with jeans. I am in the process of making another one inspired by a suit I saw on the Bloomingdale's web site. Its been snowing here so I needed some inspiration so I did a little web shopping. Stay Tuned.

Happy New Year

I have been MIA. I have had my granddaughters here since August they are 4 and 6 and they have been keeping me busy. Our daughter is in Afghanistan. I haven't had a chance to do any sewing. I am how ever teaching my oldest Grand daughter how to sew.  I have never seen a person pick it up they way she has. She is so enthusiastic.  They  will be leaving us and going back home to North Carolina in March just in time for me to start my spring wardrobe.
