Coats Coats and more coats.

Around this time of year the leaves are turning it makes me think about fall. I always go through my closet to take an assessment of  what I have, vs what I need/what I want in my closet. Last year while in NY my office was across from 9West. Every year I always add a pair boots to my fall wardrobe. This year I don't have to do that, I added quite a few pair last year. 8 pair to be exact. You can never go wrong with boots.

So this year I am loving the new plain coats with the 3/4 length sleeves, like this Chole coat. And I also love the LV Suede Doctor Bag,

Although I wont be spending the 2,000 for the bag I am sure I can find something similar.

The coat is a different story. I am using Burda pattern which I reviewed back in March 2013. The only changes I need to make is to make the coat longer and instead of the patch pocket on the original pattern,  I will make the seam pockets. I have some off white mink/cashmere which was purchased in the Garment district last year. I also have brown in the same fabric.
So it depends on if I can find these darn gloves. I have then in black, but I need them in taupe.

I can't pull off this look with the short sleeves without the gloves.

Everything Old is New Again

I recently covered an old leather chair in my study. I didn't take a before and after picture of it because I always forget. My niece came over and saw the chair and loved it. She had been after me to cover a chair that belonged to her grandmother.  When I saw the chair I wanted to say "Honey you need to donate this chair" but because it had sentimental value to her, I didn't say what I was thinking. I am trying to work on my say what ever I am thinking attitude. LOL
BEFORE

AFTER
I surprised myself because it really turned out better that I thought. We purchased the fabric from Lewis Textiles here in Atlanta. She paid about 20.00 per yard for it.  I really wanted some type of stripe taffeta, I thought it would make the chair pop. We couldn't find any in her color scheme. So she selected the orange. I was out shopping and found the piping. I paid 2.00 for a 20 yard roll. I think it gave the chair a little drama, and the pop that I wanted.

Fashion Re Cycled

I have been watching this show on BBC called Breathless. Craig came in and started watching with me. After about 10 minutes he said "I know why you like this show its because of the fashion". I quickly defended my self and said no its a good show. Come to find-out the show has already been canceled. The reviews said it was a another mad men but for women. I hated to admit that he was right. I love the show for the bold colors the women wear on the show from the green coat to the fuchsia top.

I see where designers get their inspirations from. This photo was taken by Life Magazine the title was "Haute Couture and the Cold War: Dior In Moscow 1959"
Taken in the 50's. Its all about leopard. If you get in a rut as, I do sometimes just go back in time perhaps the year you were born. See what your mom was wearing back in the day. I am sure we have already re cycled it.
